    Weird skip at 2500-3000 rpm

    Hi all,
I'm riding a 2002 bmw f650gs, about 201,00ks on the clock and I noticed on the weekend a skip in the engine when cruising around 100-105 kph.
Can't find it at lower rpm, feels like it misses a beat every now and other then, it's only got 1 cylinder, and the plug is clean.
Any idea what it might be?

Just guessing... the closest I had to this was breathing problems on the Ducati 900ss. Some clown had been into the mufflers and debaffled them, it completely screwed the motor behaviour up at 4,500 RPM. Sputtering etc. Repacking sorted it out.
Is it possible that at 201,000 kms the muffler's struggling and needs attention? i.e. if it's an absorbtive muffler, the packing's burnt out or clogged up?

breather for your fuel tank. usually the cap. go for a skid with the cap unlatched and see if it still does it.

google plug chop. you'll be wanting big hairy ones to do a hundy km though.

    Cheers Akzle,
looks like it vents through the key hole and the cap ring seal needs to be replaced. Hard and cracking.

Might try the plug chop if it doesn't resolve the issue

    Fixed it,
Found the exhaust gasket was loose, will probably need replacement, but tightened it up and solved the skip

It's got more power and feels like it's running cooler too. Must have been sucking fresh air into the intake sending the sensor into a loop.
