Grew up with a mate who had one leg only.....
had a barely noticable wee limp.
when we just played around with a bal he would sometimes take his prostetic leg of (trackpants) and hit the ball with it like a hockey stick.....

always worked a treat with people who didnt know him.....

he also as a teenager stuck false foot under slow manouvring cars wheel, then play things to the max acting injured in a hilarious manner....

So yes things will be very tough....
    for a time
    but not hopeless....

Wow, can't imagine what that would be like, but from your posts so far it sounds like you're passing the (severe) attitude test with flying colours! Hope the adjustment goes as well as it can for you.

Likewise I had a mate with a similar 'leg', when needed he used to smash a big beer bottle (In the day before those girlie poncy 'hanky-up-the-sleeve' stubbies were invented) across his artificial leg.

It stopped a lot of agro. ("Not messin' with that tough fucker!")

Hope that cunt got punished for their shit driving (if they deserve it).

My neighbour runs a speedway and has a prosthetic leg. Everyone thinks it's from a racing accident, but it's not. Bugger lost it long ago from a farming accident.

I don't think he's ever been a motorcyclist, but he still races around on a souped up quad bike, as well as muscle cars, midgets, and a tractor, which he uses to mow paddocks and sports fields. The dude is fully active, nothing slows him down.

Best of luck for the recovery, your attitude and aptitude will compensate for any inconvenience from the loss of one limb

Awesome, i love hearing stories like this. I have a mate that lost his above knee 18 years ago and does pretty much anything he wants now. I do remember he had some hideous wipe outs at first, i am trying to move with a bit more finesse, the thought of landing on my fresh stump is cringe worthy

As everyone has said before, it's a hard road but keep moving. Looking at how you started the thread - and the title - and looking at how you're posting now, I'm impressed with the positivity being shown.
I suspect that if you started the thread again now, you'd title it "That stuffed it, temporarily"

I've met the guy Sidecar Bob mentioned who races with one arm, one leg. Nothing stops him.
