Damn headache this bike is starting to be.
To start with I might just say that I am mechanically challenged. Workshops love it when I mess with stuff cause it usually means there is more for them to fix.
But I have already overextended teh budget for getting this bike on the road and now after only 250k of riding the clutch is slipping like crazy.
A new clutch kit is going to set me back about $350 +$150 fitting but there is a 2 week wait according to the bike shop cause they are out of clutch plates and need more from Ozzie.
So I am looking for a good place to get an aftermarket clutch kit for it. Hopefully for cheaper but more importantly sooner. i would hate to park the bike up for another 2 weeks. It has been too long as it is.
Being as some bright fellow might want to point out something I missed/don't know I better explain exactly what happens.
If you idle and release clutch is does what is expected. Bike moves. If you apply a bit of throttle then it is generally ok. When you get to about 8000rpm the needle goes striaght to redline. (11 or 12000 or something).
If you stay under 8000rpm and ride with little and gentle throttle you can't really tell the clutch is slipping.
If you caine the crap out of it from the mark then you just go nowhere. Well you can be doing 10000rpm in 3rd and only doing 40k/hour.
I have had it suggested that the clutch springs might be at fault and might fix the problem with replacing the springs which are cheap. Thoughts on this?
