    Saturday (1 OCT) afternoon ride.

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone is interested in going for a ride up to Waipu and back Saturday avo, (I don’t get off work until 2PM).

Say Westgate, SH 16 to Wellsford, then either through Ti Hana or Tomorata (can’t remember if the road is sealed) to Mangawhai, then through to Waipu via Langs beach. Maybe take the return journey back over the brendurwins (sorry can’t spell it), Te Hana, Wellsford, and SH16 through to Westgate, or cut through Silverdale, and old SH1 to Albany.

Any suggestions? Wouldn’t mind doing something Sat avo.

Well I'm not sure if I have any customers yet :P (Cheryl Said she might show).

Was bored this avo so I went for a quick road inspection... Westgate through SH16 to Mangawhai is pretty tidy. Lots of road works through Mangawhai and the road through the Twisties to Langs Beach isn’t in the best condition, few bumps and a bit of loose gravel, so nothing too fast. From Langs beach through Waipu to the start of the brenderwins is fine, with about 1Km of road works at the start of the brenderwins, then all neat & tidy back to Aucks via Wellsford, Warkworth, Orewa, East coast bays.

The cops were doing what looked like an episode of 10/7 up the hill just past the orewa KFC, and a cager bent his car at the East Coast/Stillwater intersection... fire & ambulance etc, but otherwise was un eventful.

It took me 4 hours to get from Westgate right round and back to Panmure, with a spot of tea at Wellsford.

The revised route is, Westgate 2:30PM GAS Up etc, leaving at 3PM, then SH16 through to Wellsford, SH1 through to Te Hana, then through to Mangawhai Village, out to the heads then through to Langs Beach, then Waipu Cove, Waipu Village, back over the Brenderwins (SH1) through Kaiwaka, Te Hana, Wellsford, Warkworth, Orewa, Silverdale (All SH1), then East Coast Bays Road back to the Speights Bar in Albany for drinks, 6:30-7PM ish. It's about 250KM total to Albany, so not too long. If you fill up at Westgate its 185Km to Waipu and Back to Wellsford for re-fueling.

    Probably a bit “over planned”

Well I had a great ride, about 35KM of "Bracing dampness" heading out of Westgate, but the rest of the way the road was dry and skies overcast, not too many cagers either

Though no one else showed up

Some photos at Langs beach attached
