    So the driver:

    was drunk
had a previous drunk driving conviction.
was disqualified from driving for seven years.
    was driving an unregistered car
    was driving an unwarranted car

All the passengers made the decision to accept those conditions, let alone knowing what mechanical condition the car was in, so the driver isn't completely responsible. Good he's off the road for a while and not likely to be around anywhere I ride my bike.

I think this is an example of Darwin's principles of natural selection at work.

There may be a lack of common sense but it's not where you think. Blame is a normal part of the grieving process and is to be expected, however irrational it may appear. This can often be seen in interviews with the recently bereaved.

The lack of common sense may more fairly be attributed to the fuckwits posing as journalists who use it to create a non-story, either because they don't know or they don't care.

The sentence it seems reflects how seriously the guy handing it out takes it.Fucking pathetic.Whilst impossible to stop people driving pissed completely there could at least be an attempt at making people think twice.Coppers that pull people over pissed must shake there heads in disbelief come court day.
