    Hello (Burnie)

Hi all, New member and first post here. I have finally decided to get my bike license and join the ranks of other enlightened folks. I am sitting my basic skills test tomorrow afternoon and will be straight down the the AA for my theory test afterwards. I also have my eye on a nice Suzuki Intruder which I am going to get acquainted with on Saturday - hopefully will have some photos of my bike to post soon.

    Relax and take your time.

    If in doubt ask.

reread the questions, if you have done some on line these are similar but often the wording is rearranged.

    it isn't a speed test.

    Wink

Cheers for the advise. I think i'm ok with the road rules (already have a full car and HT licence), it was the motorbike specific questions that were tripping me up on the free online test - until i read the road code for bikes.

Probably should have read the road code first, eh.

Yes, come round and I 'll share the steinies in the fridge (otherwise I'll have to avail myself of their enjoyment). Passed the skills test and then straight round to the AA and 34/35 on the theory. Excellent assessor on the skills test. Thanks Glen (0800 2 wheels). Would recommend him to any newby!!!

Decision now between Suzuki Intruder 250 or Suzuki GW250. Whaddya reckon???

Where will you be riding it? I'm a returning rider who rode a 125 to commute in London years ago. Now riding a 400 on an L plate. Not sure the 250 would really be enough on the motorway for me. The GW250 would be best of those 2 I reckon but as a newer model you are paying more for something you might want to change fairly soon.

The price is the thing making me consider the GW250, it's brand new and the same price as a 8 year old Intruder - $4995.

There's not many motorways down here either - plenty of open road riding thou.

So today I purchased a 2010 Suzuki Intruder. Really mint bike. I can't thank the previous owner enough - they really looked after her. (I think she's going to be a she)

    Hopefully picture upload works

Went to Taupo today for the bike - only 1 1/2 hours up the road. Otherwise Wanganui is 1 hour away and Palmy is 2 hours.

Yes, we have some nice roads for riding - looking forward to getting out down the Paraparas and also cruising the road to National Park and Turangi. All better in Summer of course

That's one mean looking ride, you made a good choice! I reckon the GW250 is a bit fugly. If you're looking for some practical things to do while you wait for the summer months, you should book in for some Ride Forever courses. They're an awesome way to get familiar with bike maintenance and meet some local riders at your skill level. Oh yeah, they'll also help you prepare for your restricted assessment.
