I actually had a good chat to one of the guys up who is heavily involved in the kart club up there when I was acquiring some sidecar parts in earlier this year. He was very keen for some buckets to come up and run at the track at least once. If enough people are interested it sounds like it is definitely possible.

Looks like a pretty simple track design... but I've been fooled by looks many times before.

Which direction do they normally run the track?

The track has been extended since that photo. Not the best picture but:

Interestingly it looks to be a concrete track.

    eek bucket racing in whangarei

i,m keen as to help get something started here in Whangarei at the cart track. My "her in doors" and myself are keen on getting into bucket sidecars (which we are currently in the market for buying) and I'm keen on getting into solo's too.

I currently ride with a bunch of old competitive muts (in denial) in Whangarei who I'm sure would get amongst it also, ah Gandalf !!

Life would be so much easier if you addressed questions with a simple answer.

Cut and paste from the Facebook event:

Classes will be A, B. (C if justified)
F5 if there is enough interest.

    Entry $40
    Transponder hire $10
Day licence $40 (but please get a licence proper, will be cheaper for you on the long run and speeds up sign on by about an hour, meaning we all get more track time)

Whangarei / Kaitoke Points for the series.
Points can be allocated for the series from EITHER this round or the Kaitoke round (Wellington). Both events can be entered but points will only count for one of these rounds, if you enter this event and wish to collect points from the Kaitoke round please advise of this at sign-on.

Note, this track has strict noise requirements, make sure your bike is well muffled.

    As above,
this is a new round but the usual format is something like:

Saturday, start around mid-morning for practice
Sunday, start around 9am for final practice, qualifying and usually 3 races of increasing length.
