whats all this about passing and failing, i didn't think that was done anymore as that could make some feel inferior. don't ya just get a certificate for participating (read: showing up).

Is the problem the failing of the test or how the student perceives what happened after?
Rambaldi is correct. Raw exam scores are converted to pass scores. A raw score is a score without any adjustment or transformation e.g. the number of questions answered correctly. The raw score is then scaled against a standard such that scores for all candidates are on a consistent scale. Say a yearly test has Exams, and one Year is more difficult than the next such that a score of 65% on Exam Year 2015 is equivalent to a score of 75% on Exam Year 2016. Then the scores (marks) on both Exams are converted to a scale so that these two exams have comparable results / scores. The US SATs are the best-known scaled exams - scaled so so they are equivalent over successive years even when the exam difficulty, and the raw scores, may vary.

Political Correctness, the chief weapon of whiney arse bastards
If this situation is in an academic institution, then someone may face a disciplinary action.
If this is in a commercial setting then what recourse does the person have?
If the person concerned perceives they have been publicly ridiculed what can they do?
The question for you - if you were that person would you enjoy being publicly ridiculed?
I failed a Dale Carnegie course last year. There was a bit more than a point in it, mind.
Seems the post in question has been deleted, probably a smart move. The comments that followed the first post were directed at the person's failed attempt.
Mistakes were made, test failed.
Arguably, a mistake was made and someone chose to get upset.
Life goes on for all, pretty minor shit.
