The A10 would look better with one of these

At 3 x the price ? fuck that, wrong size anyway

Most common mod is a 2LS out of a later Triumph

Yeah half width, if I could find one at reasonable cost I'd probably do it, the fork leg needs modifying to suit though

You can buy a 2LS off ebay for about $250NZD +postage

There are both 7 and 8 inch half width hubs. You should have the 8 inch front.

Best 2ls conversion is the post 68 BSA/Triumph backplate with the cranked levers giving a cable pull straight up the forks.

Those 2LS backing plates also fit the latter conical hubs and look heaps nicerer. That's the setup I have in my Briggo Jawa and it works well.

What he said, there is also a 2ls for the 7 inch hub, I'm not sure what bikes had that, but I have seen them.

    Edit
the smaller 7” version was used on the smaller “C” range T100A, Daytona etc. and some BSA models 1968-74.

Yeah, just measured and it is 8 inch, uses a torque arm which the Triumph brake doesnt, I'll have to check on the A10 forum and see how they adapted them

Now who do I know that is a talented machinist and likes fucking about with old bikes to knock this up for me

I am pretty sure the scramblers had the 7 inch half width, likely the smaller BSA models as well.
the A65 Spitfire and lighting has the correct lower legs for the 2ls likely the BSA and Triumph brakeplates are slightly different as Grumph said there are variations on the levers and fixings depending on the year.
that said you might as well upgrade to real two way damping at the same time.

I seen in a old mag a hub converted to a mini based hydraulic set up. It was supposedly able to lock the front at 60MPH.

I have already sussed out a cartridge conversion, not sure If I'll go quite that far yet, the Eddie Dow damping set up is cheap enough

Opps fucked that up, bid on the TLS Husaberk put up and it's not actually the one I want

Remember Peter P's starmaker AJS ? I used a '68 backplate in that with an added pickup point for a torque arm. Weld it in, clean it up and paint it. Who in the current WOF system would know it's not OE ?

They also do it by adding or extending a lug on the fork or backplate so the torque arm isn't needed

No one, I'm counting on that if I do the conversion

The later forks had proper two way damping without the Dow conversion
