    Good question.

But sauntering around the ring with his hands dangling at his sides looked far from serious.

Agreed. Looks like Lonegan did himself no favours calling them scum, threatening to sue the lot. Now his staff are receiving abusive emails and the story is far bigger than the event they covered.

Not really interested in boxing, but Lonegan v public looks pretty good

Yea this was my issue with Lonegan...it was all about his dosh and not about the fight.
How is it that i can watch any other sport on tv at no cost but i cant with boxing....i guess it's still a sport isnt it?

    Well done Parker!

It's entertainment .. we pay for it ... and there are plenty of sports we can't watch for free - such as MotoGP live ...

Parker had never gone 12 rounds in a bout let alone facing a tough opponent at the same time - pacing himself through that was an accomplishment in it's self!

If you want to know how hard it is try sparring three three minute rounds against an average amateur and you will get an idea!

Takam is very tough and has more than an average heavyweight skill base and experience against top contenders to boot - Parker did well. (IMHO)

Still haven't found any Takam comments on the bout and the outcome? - Please post if any of you do come across any.

    Yep, done that.

I'm well aware of how strenuous it is. (And that was back in my young days).

Sky make no rules as to how many people can watch one TV which has paid for the feed...see the pubs who had it on.

If this guy claims he had paid for it so he could show some of his friends....it's a possible answer.

I will not give Sky TV one dollar. And remember, you can't just pay $50 and watch the event. (which I would happily do: in fact last month I happily paid $40 to watch ten rank amateur fights ranging from the very brutal to the "what the fuck was that").

But you can't just pay your fiddy dollar and watch. You have to buy a whole lot of other shit, sign up to a twelve month contract THEN pay your fiddy dollar.

And that business model can lick my sweaty ballbag.

So, What needs to happen? Work out some way of streaming it to the internets where I can sign up and pay money to do that.

Yeah, from what I read, it was $40 for monthly basic Sky, $50 a month for the additional Sport access, and then once off $50 for the fight.

Haha, fuck that. No wonder Sky is losing customers...

Ali had that very same bad habit..
Always laughable that the less than amateur think they know better than what makes a World Champion.

Agreed, lonergan is far too inward focussed and has forgotten what sport is about. The minute him or kevin barry or even Joseph Parker use patriotism as a way of promotion they are two faced to then get pissed when we don't want to pay their fees.

It's not their fees, it's their wages, taking his product without paying is in short, theft. What about we steal your meal ticket whatever that is, & get all pissy when you come after us & want to be paid?
Why do you expect it for nothing? I'd be quite confident that Lonergan had massive outgoings that need to be paid for.
I can't grasp this concept that the bout is somehow free public property.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with him making money from the fight, and would happily fork out, but he just needs to take a look at how he promotes it.

His brain injury, from when he played that pointy-ball game, appears to have come out of remission...
Either that or the time his braincells were destroyed at Hauraki.
