STATEMENT ISSUED BY ACU EVENTS LTD

The Technical Director appointed by ACU Events Ltd has apologised for any confusion caused by his query regarding a dimension on the piston on one of the machines of the podium finishers in the 2016 Supersport 2 Race at the TT Races last week.

    He said:

“I made an initial comment in the heat of the moment during post race inspection but on closer examination and after reviewing the TT regulations it became clear that the piston was eligible and complied with the Technical Regulations for the Supersport Class”.

    He continued:

“At no point were any of the machines formally declared illegal and no formal protest was received from any of the other competing teams or riders. I would like to apologise to anyone affected by my comment.”

During the press conference Hutchinson accused Dunlop of starting a rumour that his bike was oversized. The scrutineering people then apparently pulled his bike down to measure it. It was found to be OK. Hutchinson said that the matter was not over until he had received an apology from the officials concerned.

There is the apology. Hutchinson should be happier now, if not exactly BFFs with Dunlop.

Dunno who the Technical Director was this year, but last year it was long time crew chief Adrian Gorst, a Kiwi.

that's a separate meeting, why would it be counted?

Because it happened on the island? The UK media are saying 5 died, for what that's worth.

The total competor deaths on the Mountain circuit is now 252, plus a few officials, spectators, etc.

actually the total comeptitor death rate is around 8000, some have died at the event and given that it's been going since 1907 the others have died of old age.....

Gotta say Doppelganger's impressions are similar to mine. I've only seen a few interviews with MD (3?) but in each one there are hints that he's an agro bugger.

Certainly Hutchinson was unhappy with Dunlop's carry-on - and seemingly was justified because he has now received the apology he suggested was due.

...if you have an opinion, you should test it some time...if Dunlop wasn't cheating then whatever anybody says is moot..i love Hutchy, but Joeys nephew is very hot on a bike around the Island and beat him...dynasties?...Hutchinson is up with Hailwood...not bad...Joey is three ahead of his closest 44 year old rival for the crown...
