Yeah but the point I am making is that the bulk of the earth's population are not christians. We may sit in judgement of China and for that matter India where all the big populations are and say they are screwed up, but once again that is our view looking from our end. They may well think the same about New Zealand and quite clearly many countries and other religions think that about USA. So who is right and who has the right to say the other view is wrong? Was christianity the first religion on earth? Is it therefore the only one that has it right? Somehow I don't think so, so no use trying to convince us of that. If you believe it, good on you, but that is your choice not mine. It just isn't my thing.

Its like bikers saying cage drivers are the pits and vice versa and all the attacks on SUV drivers in USA saying they are bad, but those that choose those things think it is right for them. Hell how can people buy bright green Kawasakis instead of beautiful red Hondas? Well I am sure Doug Green will tell us because that is his choice and I respect him for it as he will think his green bike is beautiful. Then there is the Harley crowd - man the bagging they get from outside their circle, but in their circle they talk of Jap bikes equally as badly and the mean ones actually burn Jap bikes at their rallies just for a laugh.

It is an issue that can never be resolved for as long as you have more than one person in a room there will be a difference of opinion and we have to get used to respecting the other's point of view seeing it from their viewpoint not ours.

So ride on brothers and keep telling us about your experiences, but not much point talking about some obscure stuff like religion and that is the road Zed was trying to go down.
    Cheers

    Merv

This is a free and open forum - you can speak your mind on anything (preferably in the appropriate forum ) and as long as its not a vicious attack on a member or the site -

I assume we are all big girls and boys here and can take a bit of stick occaisionally - shit, some members seem to get a diet of nothing else (still here Dan?) but, like life, its all about tolerance and enjoyment of diversity, or intolerance and shit stirring if thats your feeling for the day .
Stay and contribute if you want to, but realise that some people get really pissed off with scripture being thrown around and let their feelings be known - just like life.
Stay or go - it can only be your choice...
(unless you REALLY piss off Spankme or Wari.... )

I'd like to see You hang around and contribute some more. look at the shit Wkid has had to put up with & he's still here(of course he likes to mix it up too like plenty of us on here). do whatever you want, but this is a place for anyone who wants to stick their head in, unless Spankme banned You(which i don't recall ever happening) I don't see a problem. remember, it's all noise in here nothing more. but i have learnt a lot from reading other's contributions and that is where the value lies. don't forget why we're all here.. a common interest.

    go or stay...

    Hi Zed,

I haven't been on this forum for long bro, but a couple of your posts reminded me of when I was walking to town (a few years ago) and I saw these two mormon missionaries getting booted off this old man's property. All I heard was, "$^ck Off!! Can't you see I'm trying to get pissed!"

And later on in life I've realised that although the old guy could've just told those two "no thanks", people's lives are their own and mentioning something that you are passionate about (especially forcibly) that isn't somebody elses cup of tea may evoke some 'kind' of reaction. Since we all realise that you're passionate about God I'm sure that those of us that are interested will ask you more if we want.

Stick to the topic (as much as feasible), look at the Off Topic forum for subsequent posts about your non-biking passion but there's no need to go.

We all love bikes and riding bro. It's a shame to lose members for no real reason at all.

    ching_ching

BTW Zed, you do realise that when I say bro, it's not in the "religious sense".

Now Merv I have nothing against Red Hondas just so long as they stick to their piece of road and dont get in my way. As for bright green Kawasaki's we only have 3 and 2 very dull army green ones and a vintage Yamaha which is in Hawkes Bay rotting.
As for the rest of what you said I totally agree, everyone has their own opinions and what works for them may not work for the rest of us eg Red Hondas, Harleys etc

    Decision made

Now that I've taken a couple of days off participating in this site I have concluded that you can all get stuffed!...nah just kidding.

Thanks for your votes in the poll, and all of your comments have been duly noted. I do want to stay and get involved in KiwiBiker. I love motorcycling and am looking forward to more discussions on and semi-off the subject.

I will be more sensitive with my words concerning my beliefs, but if YOU bring it up I will take the bait! I am not wanting to preach at you here (even though that is how it has sounded to some), but rather am interested in talking spiritually with those members of like faith.

    Take care out there,

    Zed

    Stay

Dude - you have the power of your convictions, and whether they align to those around you or not... no big deal.

Jackrat has said some stuff in the past that's pised me off, and some other stuff that has been tremendously helpful. No big deal to me. It's all been a challenge to make me think - and it has.

Come in here and talk about bikes as has been mentioned - that's why we're all here. If your perspective on bikes and riding is influenced by your faith, then I'd say bring that to the table too - the more perspectives we have up for discussion the better.

I'm not going to diss people for what they think, but as soon as they start pushing it in a forum that's not appropriate I'll get annoyed (even if the opinions stated align with mine). That's just a dumb thing to do - and I think you know that - hence you not mentioning God.

No biggie - you be you, I'll be me, and when it comes to bikes lets talk!
