    Another N00B says Hi!

    Hi all,

I've been lurking around for the last couple of weeks and have enjoyed what I've seen so much I thought I'd say hi.

    Bike History:

I have been into bikes since my old man brought an old (1980?) CB350 when I was about 8yo and put me on the back. Got myself a mighty scooter for school transport as soon as I hit 15, bike l-plate @ 16 but still haven't got myself a bike. I was gonna restore the CB until my little sister started cage-driving lessons and crumpled it through the back of the garage with the car!

I used my mates 200 two-smoker to get around while at uni, but mainly around town and only a few hours on the open road.

Currently still on my learners (pretty sad at 24yo!), however a recent ride (read: slow put-put around the block) on a friends ratty GSXR1100 has urged me to pull finger and get licensed.

One question I do have regarding this: The only person I know with a <250cc is a friend with a large scooter (~80cc and is licensed as a m-bike). I know I can sit for my restricted/full on this, however, would it restrict my license in any way?

ie. similar to when you sit your cage license in an auto, you're only licensed for an auto until you resit the test in a manual.... or has that rule been thrown out since I sat the test?

Anyway - top site guys & gals and keep up the good work! Although I never new it exsisted until this past few weeks.

I'll do my best to suggest it to any biker mates I come across!

    :spudwave:

    Welcome mate. Ride safe.

Also no, it wouldn't restrict your licence
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Welcome and good luck for sitting your full license.

It's true, sit your license in an auto and thats all you can drive-your license is inscribed accordingly.

Really? Oh. Fair enough I guess. Is quite different.
They should do that with the handling skills test - you should HAVE to do it on a motorbike (clutch/gears etc) not on a scooter!

    Cheers all!

Definitely a poster - but a quiet one generally. Will only speak when spoken to or when I have something interesting or of substance to add to a topic!

Originally I was looking at a VTR250, but I've stopped listening to *cough*experts*cough* - ("My uncles, neighbours, brothers dog used to ride a bike so I think you should get..."). Instead, the two guys I know that ARE bikers said I have enough basic skills to consider a bigger bike, especially if I want to start riding it places. Now I'm looking at a possible SV650 - although this won't be for a year or two, awaiting license + $$!

When I sat my handling test, they provided the bikes so we had no choice to try and dodgy on scooters. Knowing the licensing system in this country you probably could sit your entire license on a step-thru scooter though!
