There is a world of difference.

Not that the "expert" here would know.

The stripper clips ('chargers' in old British terms) make for bloody quick reloads on a SKS.,

Yep, I bought a brand new SKS in a wooden box with a bipod and a thousand rounds of steel ammo, loaded in clips a few years back. Me and my bro emptied the lot into some targets down the farm and then lost interest. An SKS is a useless gun for nz conditions. It is made for warfare only IMO.

out of curiosity , what are the NZ conditions that make it useless?? distance? lack of police in rural areas ?

Its a short cartridge 7.62X39 (same as a AK) and thus limited range and much lower muzzle velocity . Compared to pretty much anything else in similar calibre esp 308. ie 7.62x51 Or to a 303.
Plus they are very hard to add scopes too and only have very basic sights.
They were designed exclusively to kill humans at very short range, ie less the 50 yards and be cheap to make and be rugged, They were not designed to be hunting rifles.
Yes I didn't miss the joke.

A lot of pig hunters would disagree.

Haha, yep I did use mine for possums a couple of times but it is a difficult machine to mount a scope to and fucken noisy making it a bit anti social near your neighbours house at 2.00am!

With the exception of pig hunting, see below, there is a better gun for every other use. There is a degree of fun factor in just letting off as many rounds as poss in a short time but that gets boring quickly too.
