    CB300F rack mount?

    Hello,

I am a new rider as well as a new member of this forum. I need a bit of assistance with installing my rack mount on my CB300F. I bought a GIVI Top hard case from Honda and they gave me a rack mount (sr1103). While trying to install the rack mount. I found that the mount doesn't fit by the tail. I went online and found out that it won't fit unless I cut some of the plastic from my tail. And I don't think I can return the rack mount as it has been 2 months since I bought it and I am installing the rack today. I don't really want to do that as I do not want to damage the bike. Does anyone has an alternative method?

Pictures of the situation? Givi doesn't seem to list the CB300F at all. SR1103 does seem to fit CBR125R and CBR250R.

Its quite possible there will be some cutting etc to get a part to fit when it's not listed for your bike.

The white color is my bike, and the red bike is a cb300F that installed the racked mount with cutting out the plastic. The store told me that this would fit

It looks like only a small piece of plastic is removed by each mount. That seems like it's worth it for the extra value added by having a rack on your bike.

Of course there are two caveats, 1; you don't want to fuck up cutting out the plastic, the tidier the job, the better. 2; you want to make sure the rack will actually fit before cutting anything off your bike.

I don't have the necessary tool to even start a job like this And to get the store to do this, it cost $200... So there isn't any other way to cutting the plastic that require skills I don't have?

If you can't or won't fit it: Either take it back or pay some one with the skills and tools.

Try talking to the retailer you bought it from. If you bought bike and kit from him you might be surprised.

If it were my business I'd want to sort you out before you started something on the net.

Pretty sure you could make the consumer guarantees act work here for you unless you told the vendor you were competent to make that cut when you bought it or specified the parts you wanted.

The honda dealer is usually pretty good, but I assume they won't take it back as it out of it's original package (Original package is ripped apart) which would mean I can't take it back. But this is my assumption with returning goods. I am planning to give them a call tomorrow to ask them if I can swap this for the proper model or maybe how I can install it.

Well, they are replacing the mount with a ventura mount rack (with a $120 additional cost). But it isn't going to come for another 2 weeks. Which I am not pleased about however I do have to bit the bullet if I want a bag on my bike...

Yip. Best value is often not the lowest cost... especially luggage.

Yeah, so once the mount rack comes in, I might just put my bike into service and get a few things done on the bike (Back brake lights isn't working). Hopefully they give me a decent loaner bike . Still bit disappointed at the fact that I can't have the GIVI bag installed. I travel to work and home everyday and I don't like to carry a backpack... Very uncomfortable ride...
