Question New Bike Dilemma - Newer or Cheaper (R6 03 vs 06)

Torn between two good looking R6's
    1) 2003 (2nd gen) 88k asking $3k, standard
    2) 2006 (3rd gen) 80k asking $4k, standard + akra slip on

Both pretty good condition and will get a PPI for piece of mind. Will be getting the major service (incl valve clearence adj) upon purchase

How much better is the 3rd gen? I've owned a 2nd gen for 6 years before taking a break and was happy with it
Is resale value in 2 years a consideration?

    I had an 08 R1.
I think the 06 R6 has variable velocity stacks, which in theory should improve low end torque and top end when they separate. Also I'm sure it also has fly by wire throttle. I was told when I bought the R1 you can't bog them giving it a hand full of throttle as the computer will only deliver based on rev's etc etc.
Anyway mine never had any problems, A mate now has it and it's still problem free. My choice would be the 06, Better everything.

Resale value will be shit when they hit 100k but at that end of the market you are not purchasing for long term resale/trade value so just enjoy thrashing one for a couple years. Cheap motoring, ignoring tyres, rego etc .......
