    Over-revving engine

    Hi guys,

Great to meet some of you at the weekend. My first ever race meet [Blue CBR 400 number 49] was a blast and my times fell rapidly from embarrassing to merely poor within the first few laps until.......... MERDE.

Over-revving over Dunlop Hill [no, it is definitely not a third cog corner....] resulted in mechanical mayhem - specifically, a bit of exhaust smoke, loss of some power [felt like about half power gone] and a high pitched mechanical whirring sound from the engine. Top end I think.

Questions: Would anyone like to hazard a guess at the likely damage or where I must start looking? Who near Auckland Central would you recommend to do the necessary repair?

Any bikeshop I guess but you're going to be paying $60+ an hour in any event. If you can be bothered to get the bike out to West Auckland I can recommend a guy who is a good spannerman (Warren Bridger) with reasonable rates and a knack for finding cheap solutions (he's an old school mechanic who actually tries to fix stuff before just bunging a new one one at mega$$$$) ..but he's usually booked up at least a couple of weeks ahead

mae was good to meecha --saturday and sunday
sounds to me like you mighta banged a valve or two.
I suspect you mighta banged it down a gear or two and dumped the clutch otherwise its pretty hard to overrev under power.
as long as she kept on going and heasnt made too much noise you'll probably get away with replacing the bananas -lets live in hope

If it was a Suzuki it probably would have withstood the abuse you gave it.

Always seems to be the Kawasaki and Honda's that shite themselves.

Just kidding I think Hondas are OK
