Wanting to buy first bike

Hi all im looking to buy my first bike so just after something road legal and cheap doesnt matter if its a bit rough. Im looking for a trail bike minimum 250cc preferably honda suzuki or yamaha

There was a cbr250 on tardme for 1500 I noticed that needed about 500 to return it to the road plus some nobly tires.

2 grand doesn't buy alot

Yeah i totally understand that im not very well knowledged on what bikes are worth but just trying to find an ok first bike doesnt need to be pretty aslong as its pretty reliable and up to wof standards. You wouldnt roughly know what it would cost to get a bike legal if its only been used offroad? Asside from lights and components whats getting a bike vinned worth?

You don't have enough money to buy a bike then try get it road legal afterwards.
