You are all missing the point....

Horse trainers " own" that beach

    Horse trainers own that council

Horse trainers don't like motorbikes and dogs

Council does what horse trainers want
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

I understood beaches are classed as public roads.

Raises the question... can a local council bylaw take precedence over statutes...

They must do old skool voting and networking, instead of whineing on the net.

Beaches are for enjoyment not 4x4's and motorcycles...only reason they are public roads is from back in the day when the roads were shit.

    Quoted from the article.
'Quad bikes are permitted to drive on the beach as they are classified as a motor vehicle. They must be legal to drive on the road.'

Are quads road legal in NZ?

It can be done I believe but I'm pretty sure the surf patrols are using the more recent side-by-side's which mainly come out road legal.

This by the Waimak council is IMO marginally legal. We've had dealings with the law firm they use - beat them in court....
I'd be surprised if it stood up to a challenge.

Also I am told that within a certain distance from the property it belongs on farm / property maintenance equipment does not need to be registered on the road.

...All vehicles, wheeled things, fat chicks and fat gutted blokes should be banned from any beaches in the country along with cell phones, plastic bottles and sandflies... and rope headed twats...

What if I like rolling around in the surf to see if I'm getting value for my Greenpeace donations?
Do they even attend whale standings anymore?
Haven't seen one in the news for a while.
