Return to riding - best approach/recommendations.

    Hi

I'm keen to get back on a motorbike to make my Auckland commute lest painful. Last time I rode a bike was 5 years ago. Prior to that I had only been riding for 2 years. I have a full NZ Motorcycle licence.

Just wondering what the best approach is? Can anyone recommend a rider refresher course in Auckland. I'm sure I'll be OK but don't fancy my first ride being on a bike I'm test driving from a dealership.

    Cheers

    D

Have a one to one lesson with a professional riding instructor and they can cover off anything you wish. I'd recommend Phil: http://www.riderskills.co.nz/

Just some feedback. On the recommendation above I booked in for a 3 hour 1:1 session with Phil from Riderskills (Westgate). Fantastic session! Phil was slow and methodical and got me feeling very comfortable being back on a bike in a really short time. Not only did we go through the basics but he covered a lot of roadcraft and gave me excellent critical feedback to improve my riding. Not only does he know his stuff but he clearly has the teaching skills necessary to impart his knowledge to his students.

I left feeling very happy with the 3 hours experience but knowing that I would be back for more. Once again, can't recommend him highly enough.

Confident enough to go looking for a new bike now!

Great to hear. Philip's skills are legendary, as is his complete lack of ego. His one on one advanced course gets rave reviews too.
