The word classic is used far too often. The Bimota YB7 however, truly deserves the label. Like all Bimotas; it was built to be the best in its class in terms of quality and specifications.
Listed as a 1992 model, this is one of the very last of only 321 bikes known to have been built. There are no signs of damage anywhere and the paint is in superb condition. Some storage and sea freight corrosion on the alloy and steel components is present but can be polished out with a little effort making for an almost new look.
The Bimota YB7 uses Yamahas FZR400 motor and with some mods by Bimota, made 68HP on their dyno at 13,000rpm. Factor in the sub 160kg dry weight, top quality components and you have a fast little bike that handles superbly and stops on a dime. Top speed is an outstanding 217kph but that power and weight (possibly 175kg fueled up wet), suggest that this should be able to be registered as a LAMS bike. This then has to be the best used LAMS option available in NZ!
The following article and specs written when the bike was new by Alan Cathcart, tell you the story (scroll down past the specs). http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...imota_yb7%2088

On the international market; these little classics can fetch 30% more than the asking price: http://www.raidermoto.com/1988-bimota-yb7/
We would recommend a filter and oil change as we don’t know how long the bike has been sitting.

Note: We have about a dozen bikes for sale and are working through themall one at a time getting them set up for use. Prices listed are as is butnegotiable.
Once we have completed a bike; it will be repriced based on its cost tous and its market value. All bikes were bought as running bikes with nosignificant issues.
Compliance costs are about $190 plus registration. We can do this foryou if you want to use the bike on the road. Obviously there’s no need if youbuy one as a track day bike.
