    Wellington

    Hello all :-)
Moi suggested me some horrible route through Pipiriki and Mangamahu, so I did it in two last days. Poor Jawa :-D
No, only joking, thanks for the suggestion. Some parts were rough but beautiful.

Now to you in the capital - would any good soul from Wellington be interested in seeing me in next two days...or even...offer me a couch? ;-) ;-)

    Cheers
    Jarda

I met Jarda last week, seemed a good bloke and didn't smell offensive, at that stage.

When you head for Wellington I'd suggest you go through the Manawatu Gorge to the Wairarapa and over the Rimutaka Hill... more choice of secondary roads to enjoy then you'll get down the west coast...

Can vouch for Jarda... anyone who wants to tour on a 45+ year old bike must be OK.

Haha loving this thread! How did you go with customs Jarda? We are bringing our bikes in on the 9th of January and have spent over 20 hours each bike cleaning thus far with a few more yet to go. Did you manage to find some where to store your crate? We've contacted a few self-storage places within carrying distance of the port to no avail.

When are you thinking of leaving NZ? Would love to cross paths at sometime!

    Safe journey,
    Jaz

    Hello!
So for me it was after all pretty easy. My agent was/is Jenners directly by the airport. They started on Monday with my carnet, did the customs, bio and NZTA check without my presence and on Thursday was my bike free.
I think that biocheck was not deep at all, there were many things inside my box and they probably gave up to check them :-) But the bike was clean of course.
The crate is now at Jenners warehouse and it will stay there until the departure to South America.

...this didn't help you much, did it? :-/ ;-)

I am leaving from Auckland on 20th of January. I will spend my time between now and 13th January on South Island, one week before departure I will move to North again. Send me a message after your arrival and I am sure we could meet us on the road ;-)

    Wish you merry Xmass,
    Jarda

Wow, that's great that it was so hassle free for you It has helped to know they didn't pick up every tiny spick of dirt, thanks! We have (possibly stupidly) decided to not got with an NZ agent and try do that side ourselves. Mind if I ask how much Jenners charged you? They sound really good.

We'll both be in the North Island at the same time, woohoo!

By the way, if you get a chance... Try a Feijoa... Wonderful fruit

    Hello guys,

    just sharing my position :-)

Some really wonderful moments behind me, the best was probably reaching the Homer Tunnel (on the second gear, but yeah!), illegal /no, it is too strong word :-D / overnighting at some places and so on. After two nights in DOC campsites I try to avoid them, too loud in the morning.

No Jawa or CZ in Invercargill motorcycle museum!!!

    Great trip BTW

If you go back to Westport include a run up to Karamea. Also, while you're in Invercargill, go east and do the Catlins.

My father in CHCH has a collection of Jawa's and CZ's amongst other bikes, if I remember correctly:

    1972 Jawa Californian 250cc
    1960ish Jawa ?? 250cc
    1960ish Jawa motorcross
    1974 CZ Enduro 250cc
    1968 CZ 360

If you are in CHCH send me a PM and I can arrange a chinwag with my father if you like.

..Jarda has been and gone from our area. He did get to spend a few miles on the Peninsula and Akaroa though...

Yesterday - Thursday - Jarda crated his bike for shipping back to Europe and today he sailed from Auckland for Columbia via the Panama Canal.

Pity I didn't see this thread earlier then, I suspect he would have liked to see those bikes, considering his fascination with Jawas and CZ's
