Everyone drives around 130kph on the open road here and in the UK and the road toll is far lower than NZ. Nothing to do with speed just bad driving and poor road surface. It switches from freezing to 40 degrees and I have never seen tar bleed or a road worker blobbing down bitumen and flinging loose gravel over a patch and calling it "fixed".

Given that the average car speedo reads anything up to 10% fast, most of those showing a death-defying 110 on the speedo will still only be driving at the current open road legal limit anyway.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Yes, got one of those, that's how I know the speedo is inaccurate. Don't think they are fitted to every car, though.

Yeah but if he was in a car and not on a push-bike the outcome might be a bit different.

Not ones that display speed though. Not saying they're not out there but I drive a lot of late model Euro's etc and whilst a lot have built in GPS I've not seen a function to display speed.

Right. The satnav in my Honda Accord can do everything but predict next weeks Lotto numbers but to display speed it has to be in diagnostic mode, then a combination of touch panel presses (and its all in Japanese) brings up a display showing road speed, direction, altitude and how many satellites it can see. Not totally straight forward.

Probably don't display it to stop people complaining about their speedos being innacurate. I'm sure they stopped fitting oil pressure gauges as standard to stop people complaining about oil pressure being out of specification.
