By now I'm sure y'all are aware that there is serious political upheaval taking place in Spain and that Catalonia has declared its independence. On social media people are questioning what effect this will have on the championship challenge of the Spanish riders, particularly Marquez. The answer is no direct effect, he is racing on an FIM licence issued by the Spanish Federation.
Other than being aware that 99 is not from Catalonia, and that 93 is, I had no idea, so I asked a Spanish person who entered one discussion, who in the MotoGP class is from Catalonia?
His answer: "Most of them are: 93, 25,26,41 and 44. Catalonia is where the motorcycle industry was located: Derbi, Bulataco, Ossa."
Here's hoping things stay calm but if the Spanish Government reaction to the referendum a couple of weeks ago is any indication, that may not be the case.
