    Stock muffler or aftermarket ???

O.K I have been back here from OZ just over a month ago and Have purchased another Vfr800 (2008) to replace the one I sold in OZ

Yeah I know old slow and heavy But it really is all I need for an everyday ride

I took all my aftermarket bits n pieces off before the sale including a set of Two Bros mufflers and shipped them all over with the household stuff

I have traveled just over 4000km's in the last month on the bike and have noticed that most of the bikes I have seen on my travels between Auckland and the Waikato seem to be wearing stock mufflers or at very least have very quiet aftermarket slip on mufflers fitted

I want to liberate a bit of V4 sound instead of sounding like a sewing machine and loose a bit of high up weight

So whats the story are the Constabulary targeting this sort of thing or any other reason for not having a bit of music from a muffler

I have mufflers here in front of me itching to fit them, they aren't overly loud at idle just a rumble if kept under the vtec point then a bit LOUDER

    Cheers

Make that V4 sing! You'll only have trouble with the police if you're being a dick.

    That's the truth of it.

Get mufflers with removable db killers - that way you can alter the noise.

I heard that the cops can now ticket you for disturbing publics peace or something like that if they think that your exhaust is loud. No need for a decibel test. Only cops opinion is necessary. Results in a fine and demerits I think. You can even ticketed coming out of the certification place.

That's what I've heard. Mainly from the chimps on the Nissan pages who do stupid shit all the time. And I've never seen a bike pulled over for anything other than speed so I reckon it'll be fine.

    Fit them, youll be fine.

Loud pipes generally only get noticed as a result of other poor behaviour attracting the wrong kind of attention.

I had Arrow cans on my VFR, never had a problem. Had Termis on the Ducati, again no problem even though it was louder. The MIVV system on the Triumph was objectionably loud and it affected the way the bike was running, so the can had a Db killer fitted.

My conclusion would be that used sensibly your Two Bros cans shouldn't cause any difficulty.

Well I went ahead and fitted them and for what ever reason they are a LOT louder on this 2008 VFR than they were on my old 2004

115 db 2008 opposed to 102 db 2004 when measured on the same phone with the same app at the same measuring point of 1 meter to the rear and 1 meter to to the side

I need to check that some one hasn't gutted the cat with a thermo laser gun

But in the mean time I am going to fit one of the Two Bros P1-X DB killer inserts as I start a new job doing shift work on Monday with early and late starts

So I better not piss off the locals too soon with Cambridge being the quiet place it is and only a few enforcement officers
