L plate/beginer/slow pace/no pressure meet up and chat

Just to gauge an interest at this stage, as I'm not too sure how many of you are out there who would want to meet up.

This would be aimed at Ladies, learners, slower pace riders, and those lacking confidence, or simply anybody who wishes to discuss tips on safety and how to be a better rider.

The time/day and meet point/ride route is open to suggestions. (Or if nothing is preferred, Z West gate or Albany car park, outside Farmers)

Free sweets and sugar free drinks to all who attend

No offence, but I certainly hope there are people who attend who have long term riding experience and/or trained experience.

A group of newbies, lead by newbies is only asking for trouble.

The primary reason I do not participate on group rides with strangers is because there are too many show offs who ride outside of their ability, the only times I've ever witnessed accidents occur has been when on a group ride with strangers.

    I would normally agree.

Been riding a Blade for 2 years now (20,000kms) and whilst I am no "newbie" I am certainly not an expert. The one thing I am though is safe.

Besides, this is more aimed at a meet up and chat about riding, and not really interested in riding anywhere in a group at this stage, but if some wish to take it further, then by all means, feel free to organize something.

We had just the one incident when doing our learner rides, said ride had read/heard some where that slalom riding bullshit to warm your tyres while trailing the front brake was a good idea = wrong. 200 mts after lunch his bike was on it's side in the middle of the road. He taught himself a lesson that day. You attended one or two of our rides?

    I fully support Pounds idea.

Hey thanks for the support Maha!

I really am only trying to help out riders who genuinely want to be safer and better riders.

The difference between this and NASS are:

    1: I have no ego
2: I have nothing to prove
3: I have virtually zero testosterone.
4: The atmosphere will be no pressure and welcoming.
5: Free zero sugar drinks and sweets (best part)

I have not been to NASS for a while, but I think this is more accurate tbh

Good on ya, I hope it goes well. I didn't mean to discourage you or anyone else, just pointing out some things to remember Might have to pop along for the free stuff

Yes I do remember that one. Guy on a blue GSX250. Good lunch though at the pub

Your ones were always well organised and made very clear to be learner rides only - no room for shenanigans! Plus West Coast Road has since been one of my favourite routes.

Absolutely, free stuff for all who attend!

This is mainly just to gauge interest at this stage, and if enough like minded people are in agreement, then perhaps something like Maha used to host could be started up again?.

There would of course be rules and guidelines that would need to met by all those who attend, and things like, dangerous / aggressive riding and speeding will not be tolerated.

    Thanks for the kind words

Must have been to a different NASS then

I all seriousness though, I am not bashing or "hating on" NASS.

They ride more for the "thrill of the ride" (Nothing wrong with that in theory)

I want this to be encouraging for young or just learning riders, or even riders who want a boost in confidence.

One can only really achieve this if egos are left at home, and there is no pressure to compete with each other, or trying to "out skill" or show off.

I thought that it would be the only way to post a serious thread without getting flamed for it.

Turns out the flaming was inevitable!

Admire your intent, never mind the haters.
