Half of rear disc rubbing

I have my rear wheel raised at the moment and have noticed when I spin it that for approximately half a turn I can hear the brake disc rubbing on the pads, the other half the wheel spins freely.
I cant think of any way the disc could have been bent (not ruling it out tho) , the wheel alignment is good.
Ideas?

Surely if anything other than the disc being bent was at fault it would rub the entire time?

Same bike and mine does it too. Only does it when I've parked it up then left it for a while and everything is cold . I'm assuming that the pads move back when the wheel turns a bit faster because of the semi-floating rear caliper. If you come in from a run and lift the back wheel to lube the chain, there's no sign of it. Don't believe that it's an issue.

It's not as enjoyable as going for a run but stick your bike in gear on your stand and run it up for a minute then try it! Actually had mine on the stand this morning to give it a wash ready for a run tomorrow and it did exactly what you describe. Does it every time when cold. there's no uneven wear pattern on the disc or blueing so assume what I described about the floating caliper is a likely reason.

If the disc was warm and got splashed by a puddle, it may warp. Even just a little.

There are ways to check the amount or warp ... and to see/check if it's uneven wear on the disc. Do nothing and you will have contact/wear on the disc pad on every rotation of the wheel. Check caliper alignment as well. And check rear wheel bearings.

The idea of ignoring the issue in the hope it will go away ... could be costly later. But it your bike and your neck on the line (possibly) ... but if you're sure nothing could possibly go wrong ...

Could be a rivet stuck if its a full floater.

So when ya spin a wheel it is not uncommon to hear an uneven rub.

If you cant feel it pulse when applying the brakes, pay it never mind.

Absolutely! Floating calipers take care of slight warping or misalignment.

What he said - sould like a fairly normal bit of pad rub. If it was a damaged disk you'd notice it when braking.
