Hi. I have a Husqvarna TE449 that has light scratches on the red plastics, there is also some white marks where the plastic has been bent. Does anybody know of anywhere to get the plastic restored in Auckland area? Or if i can do it myself?
Cheers

Gentle application of a heat gun can minimise whitening, just be careful not to melt the plastic. Use it on low, keep it moving at about 6 inches away.
I got most off the whitening out of my rear fender this way, but then that is a white bike.
Autoglym will do wonders for reducing the appearance of the scratches but won't remove them.
You might be able to sand them a little smoother but then it is probably easier to put a sticker kit on or keep an eye out for a plastics kit or good used spare.

Practical Sports bikemag just did an article on it though mag is probably a month away from nz shops. Many stepped process involving scrapping with an old school razor both directions then light fine sanding, cleaning, then heatgun, then polish.
Improvement was remarkable but took a while. Faded bent red guard was subject.
Here it is (sitting in pile by where I'm lying) . Oct/Nov issue with an RGV on the front.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

we just used to use watered down Jiff to get the dirt out of white plastic
but as the others said heat gun and care for creased stuff.
