yep I bought loads of things from ebay UPS tracking number alerts me via email that parcel has left each stage of the way and then lets me know when it's in the country, usually the biggest delay is getting parcel from Auckland to Wellington.
sometimes there is no tracking info because some Numpty didn't get the package into the mail at the state side and it's still sitting in a pile, the tracking numbers get activated when parcel is uplifted from seller by the postie , then it arrives at the mail distribution centers and you should get an update about that and then one when it's left whatever airport it's coming from then one when it enters NZ etc etc
having said that I have have had things show up with no tracking info. never been ripped off so don't panic just yet.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I've seen things bounce around the states from depot to depot for a week before it finally leaves for NZ.
I've also ordered on the same day from the US and from Auckland, and the overseas stuff arrives first.
Wherever possible I buy from the UK, their first class postal service really is first class.

Just in case you haven't figured it out yet:
1. Login to My eBay.
2. Find the item in your purchase history.
3. Click on the UPAAA tracking number - it should be a link.
4. This should display a message showing the international carrier name with another link to the tracking info.

While i don't doubt that ebay's system is working for some - possibly even the majority - I'm hearing more stories of system failure than is comfortable. Ebay USA also are developing a reputation for evasive answers to enquiries about parcels or tracking.
One Aussie source says that ebay's freight arm is trying to monopolise the overseas parcel shipping business.
Whether this is true or not, it's probably worth paying the extra to get stuff sent via a single company which operates here.
