    Well, that woke me up...

6.6 around Hanmer Springs brought back memories i'd just as soon forget thanks. Long rolling one with everything rattling. No damage apparent here.
Bet there's some slips inland though - been quite a bit of rain in there.

Looking at the GNS site, there's a flock of the bastards between canty and wgtn. Hope it's not the precursor to the alpine fault going.

Wouldn't want to be between Kaikoura and Blenheim, they're taking a battering. Only feeling the 6.0 and above here but you know when a smaller one has hit as the windows rattle quietly.

Slow rock'nroll out here. As always, was waiting for it to ramp up, but it didn't.

Well that explains the odd shaking sensation from the bed as I was just drifting off.

Not quite strong enough to put my finger on what it was, but enough I wondered if I had poured my night cap too stiff.

It won't be the only one. Access inland will be hard. Wonder what the Arthurs Pass and Lewis pass are like.

I see the initial 6.6 has been upgraded and it looks as though Wellington got a good shake up. Ferry terminal damage is serious though.

We certainly did. Not too pleasant being woken up to one that big. Had some pretty decent aftershocks too ( and they're still happening ).
