have to say 100k feels way faster on this bike but it is such a hoot. I have no problems with the cylinder head cooking my legs.
really have to change mindset to get back into the cruiser groove, tending to downshift too early & upsetting the bike. really feel the shaft jacking if you do that.
I will need to put on some kind of wind protection to do longer rides at speed even if its just a low screen to reduce the weight on the chest.
That's good to hear - I'm glad you like it. Guzzis are an acquired taste in my experience so the fact you like it after the first proper ride is encouraging. If you haven't already try:

www.gutsibits.co.uk for parts and accessories. They have a good selection.

    Enjoy!

I've got a tiny screen that just sits around the headlight on my Thunderbird (sorry, don't know the brand). It works surprisingly well at keeping the pressure off my chest and when removed I could certsinly feel the difference. Because it's not trying to provide full protection, my head is still out in free air so my helmets aerodynamics are allowed to do their thing, rather than being hindered by turbulence. Makes for a quiter helmet. I also reckon the bike would look good with some hard panniers.

hard bags are quite expensive, love how you get a price for the bags then try to find out what the mounting kit costs

I bought cheap hard bags on TradeMe that came with their own brackets. Had them on my Rocket III using the supplied brackets but plan to fit them to my Thunderbird using Easy Brackets.
