The Valk and some of the mods sofar

    Its a bit quite .....

Opened up a little but I didn't drill the last baffle like some say too..... and it has a deeper note to it now but not loud

I have had my bike for a touch over 1 month now and only done the above but 2 weeks of that I was away and I had to get my old bike ready to sell so I hadn't done much.... But this weekend I put a fair amount of time in to it

I hadn't been happy with pushing the bike around, foot pegs are right in the wrong place.... I decided to raid the floor boards that fold up from my old bike..... Unfortunately the adapters I had wouldn't work as it would lift the boards to high so out comes the grinder and welder....mount sorted bar the paint on the adapters.

I had some hard bags for another project.... well they are going on this now :P

A few pics of the progress so far

Dry fit almost done, a little bit of tweaking to do to ensure everything is lining up to what I want.

Then it will be strip them down, paint the frames and floor board adapters and bags, I am not quite set on the design of the paint yet .

I am also thinking I might beef up the Hard bags frame so I can fit a tow bar to it

The frame is easily removed for tire changing but I am told if you drop the shock bolt the wheel hangs low enough to remove without removing the rear guard section... I will try when I lube the drive cog and check the bearings (rear guard bolts of above the tail light for easy wheel removal) If I can leave the frame there I might look at a tow plate a little more (not a tow ball type)

Yeah it didn't show like I expected.... I thought it would show like this page (this thread didn't have the exhaust mods as I posted that earlier)

Shit your a clever bastard. Looks like you have a decent man cave, lol

I am seriously looking at mini floor type front pegs for the FB, and maybe a seat change, my smashed up lower back didn't enjoy the last 5 hr ride.

Looking good..... how are the boards vs pegs? More legroom?
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

It is comfortable enough to stand and ride dirt bike style at 100K to stretch the legs, but not really any more room as I couldn't lower them more than factory as I scraped the factory pegs already, I may fit some highway pegs.... but not sure as standing was enough last ride to stretch. I also often ride with my heals at the front of the boards that does allow a little more room

Main bonus is folding the boards up for maneuvering (backing in to parking spots) without either smashing the legs on the pegs or having legs too wide around the pegs and have minimal contact to the ground

Bars should be here soon but I just went std not T bars to try fit, might get some T Bars made when I sort my riding position

Thinking I might get the seat modded to raise me a little and make it comfortable to sit at the back of the seat

I loved the full floor boards on the old bike, more options of feet positions, Had Mini boards on the back for Karen but didn't use them myself so no idea on comfort of them

I have fitted Mustang seats for my last two bikes and they have been great, but on the longest runs with gear I had a barrel bag on the back seat pushing in to my back, 2500 K's for one weekend and I didn't want to stop, could have kept going..... so looking for a seat with a back rest is not a bad idea

The Valk mustang seat with back rest is $$$$$$$ so I might get my seat modded instead (have a friend in the trade)

The mane shed is my workshop..... so great to work on the bike by working through the weekend mean no time away from the pace of work so can get a bit of a bore being there 80 hours in one week (massive hours over the weekend, things just didn't go smoothly, spend a lot of time looking for stuff I had in hand minutes before )

My "flat and wide" bars from Nelson fit me well...lots better then factory wheelbarrow style .
Put a gel pad on seat to try.... will also definitely look at seat re padding options.
I am over 6 foot and my legs are often a problem on bikes and cars....
Been slack on ordering highway pegs...
But will get my act together soon.
    Love riding the Valkyrie. ...
Am also trying to get adjustable brake and clutch levers since they are a bit of a stretch I find.
    Take care

Yup adjustable brake and clutch would be handy, I have seen them just not purchased yet

I went the low sport I think, similar specs but not as wide, not fitted yet

I have updated this thread with the bags painted.... Not looked in to getting pics showing right in this section, seams to work elsewhere on here

    You have been busy.

    makes my efforts look pathetic

perhaps the blue strip wider like the tank and higher up covering the corner/edge of the pannier

a fan of art deco type symmetry I am.

must applaud the effort in such a short space of time - awesome

Apparently these can be modded to suit

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Goldwi...25.m3641.l6368

or you can get a GL1800 master cylinder with no mod and you have a lighter clutch due to the smaller master piston or one smaller VTX1800 master, same size slave on the VTX/GL1500/GL1800. Will check with one rider that did the VTX master 2 years ago and see how its going, one fingure clutch was mentioned..... but I would say you will need all of the stroke with the VTX master so adjustable levers set close might not get enough movement.

Apparently these are about the same as the mid setting on the adjustable levers.... but are stronger
