I've heard that she's doing a bit of a land agent act too - wants a new admin center for the Anglicans rather than a cathedral.

I'd be checking where Cassina was when the fire started....

The administration center maybe a better use of money but the cathedral is iconic and is a part of Christchurch and it's cultural heritage. Maybe she's waiting for the after shocks to go away.

Better she went...The church has spent all the money they got from the insurance on suburban and outlying churches post quake on I understand, running costs and the "temporary" cathedral...How St Barnabas got repaired I surmise is down to a rich flock....possibly a high lawyer content too.
Local to me we have a very historic stone church which according to the bish will never be repaired.

So long as the church is paying for the rebuild, they can go for it.
Their tax-free, rates-free status means they shouldn't expect ratepayers or taxpayers to contribute one single cent to their House of Imaginary Friends.

Yep their land and money so they can do what they want (within the local rules of course) but don't be surprised if or when the hand goes out and their coffers are filled with yours and other tax payers cash.

    Funny you should say that...

Interesting that the majority of comments suggest that people are sick of the whole thing and don't care if it's bulldozed, so quite correctly they can knock it down and do what they wanted to 5 years ago on their land, before the moaning pricks stopped them.

Yes sold my first house earlier last year. I couldn't stomach giving cash to some slimy agent. some info if that at all helpful)

I took the photographs and wrote the blurb for the advert on Trademe.

Provided a lim report and had as much info available for the buyers at the open home so they were in the know about coucil compliances etc. We were as transparent and honest as possible about everything as this is my biggest issue with agents hiding things and being generally deceitful.
We ran the open home over 3 weekends and allowed people to bring builders in for check etc on the last week before asking for the expressions of interest.

had a set date and time to receive offers (expressions of interest) once those were in we let everyone know what the best offer was and gave them a chance to match it ( in a final round two where there best offer was put down on a sales and purchase agreement)
we were open about the process so everyone who put in an offer knew the process before starting.
we received the second round of offers and went with the one that was best.

We were happy, the buyer was happy and I got another bike with the money I saved not paying a realtor. Perhaps a realtor may have gotten a bit more but fuck it it was worth it just turning away the multiple phonecalls and uncsolicited emails from agents desperate to sell it for me (we still got more than any of the realtors had promised whilst trying to get some business)

All up it cost a lot of time and energy you have to be prepared to answer emails and phonecalls and be polite and helpful , The legal fees came to about $900 all up and a couple of hundred for the trade me ad from memory. It was a lot of work but I still feel it was worth it and very satisfying not using an agent.
