For Sale: 1983 KAWASAKI KZ200 CAFE RACER LAMS $2.2K

Hi all,

Up for sale is my 83 Kawasaki KZ200 A6.

Approximately 41,300kms done.

Registration valid till 25/05/2017, new WOF as of yesterday, expires 06/09/2017.

Has been converted to a cafe racer by the previous owner.

The bike is a good old kick starter, idles smooth, runs well and handles great.

Purchased as a learner bike for myself, but I find it a bit too small (literally) for me so I am looking for something bigger.



Has an aftermarket muffler, along with smaller indicators, stop light, bar end mirrors, etc.

Not perfect cosmetically, it can do with a tidy up.

As of recently I have purchased a versah gasket kit for this. Initially planned to rebuild the whole bike but I'd like to work with something a bit bigger.

Open to trades but mainly interested in cash.

Any motorcycle modified in a way that increases or decreases its power-to-weight ratio is no longer LAMS-compliant, regardless of whether it appears on the list.

Pod filters, silly exhaust plus cutting away half the bike = no longer LAMS compliant. Caveat Emptor and all that, but misrepresenting the bike in that way could get you into some trouble.

Key wording here:

The key term being ANY MOTORCYCLE. If you modify any motorcycle in such a way as to change its power to weight ratio, it is no longer LAMS complaint.

And yet because it's under 250cc and not on the prohibited list then it is. The fact that it's under 250cc thereby negates any modification because it doesn't have to be on the list to comply.

The following list of motorcycles with engine capacities between 251cc and 660cc – these motorcycles must be in standard form as produced by the manufacturer. They cannot be modified in any way to increase the power-to-weight ratio.

Ull see that the section above applies to above 250cc only.

And for any 250 to be prohibited you need to apply for it to be on the list.
