    WTB 80's Katana

Nearing completion of my RDLC project so time to put the feelers out for the next project, looking to see if anyone has or knows of any early Katanas 750 or 1100 that would be suitable for restoration, North island only the closer to Gisborne the better. Cheers

They're getting very thin on the ground now. I knew of a 750 down here I was keeping in the back of the mind for a pre82 project - but that won't happen now. So when asked about 6 months ago, I pointed a South African at it who wanted to build a 7/11 Katana. Snapped up immediately.

Good luck finding one at an affordable price.

Quick travel back to late 87 and you could have had mine. It was an ex wgtn mc 750sz (not the silly pop up pretender). I assume they registered it first as their own bike. It ran nicely and when I did the first oil change I found . . .
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Probably metal in the oil....I think it was Wgtn M/C who worked out the shimming the relief valve mod for the 750's. The 750's were the only engine Suzuki offered undersize shells for. I had the shafts ground on 2 or 3 of the bastards.

personally i think the early kats are shit, then they got it right with the pop up range.

Yeah the 16" front wheel and de-tuned engine were an inspiration.
