    After a first project bike

    Hello All,

I'm interested in taking on a project motorbike to further my mechanical knowledge. Preferably road legal with rego on hold, anything LAMS approved. Something maybe in need of a rebuild so I can learn or complete reassembly, I don't mind spending more time than anything and it would be perfect to have almost everything there. I hope you have suggestions or recommendations. Price is a max what I would like to spend, less would be better. Please put forward any type of bike sports, cruiser, dual purpose etc.

    Thanks in advance,

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions, they all look very good and that VFR400 was a good find, pitty it's a little too far!! I'll just add to my initial post, Auckland or close to would be best suited ie within 3 hour drive. Any advice for finding them on Trade Me? Or anyone on this forum have their own project or bike to start on that they are willing to part with? I could add a little more money into the situation for a good project.

    Regards,

    Haha yes confusing I know.

There is on full bike in parts there, rego on hold disassembled mainly. Then there is a second de reg bike with a busted radiator, and possibly some wiring loom issues, missing a rear seat, triple t and headlights/headlight mount. Fairings wise there is a damaged Chinese set and a fiberglass set missing the tail. I started and had sourced a full one set in nz as well as the hard to find tail joiner from Japan, and haven't gone any further. So hence why I called it 1.9x bikes (as not two whole ones) are you in Auckland? Welcome to come take a look?

If your after a lams legal project build I would watch the DR650 and pay freight to get it delivered if the price stays very low.
