    New 1Tonne Duel Storm Jacket

    Hi Guys

We have designed another new jacket that a lot of you may like. It is aimed at people who ride in the middle of winter in really bad conditions. What we are aiming for is to have a jacket that is one of NZ's warmest and most waterproof jackets on the market.

    Check out : http://www.1tonne.co.nz/product/duel...brane/156/100/

We would love to hear your feedback from those of you who purchase the jacket as this is going to be a work in progress. So even though this is a jacket that will beat most out there, I do not mind making small changes to improve the design of the jacket. Customer feedback is always good. Like I said, I would like this to be one of NZ's warmest and most waterproof jackets on the market.

    Cheers
    Nathan
    Safe riding.

"Duel"? Does it shoot at you?

    Your listing states:
    Dual Storm zips
    Dual storm flap closure system.

    Why the name change?

    (I'm sure it's a wonderful product!)

First recommendation: change the name to Dual Storm with an 'a', since you are talking about two membranes.

Looks very good, but I don't shop at the Supa Centre down here on principle and can't see myself wearing what looks like a mis-spelled name on my jacket either. I'd get too much crap from my colleagues, for starters.

Edit: should type faster and edit less.

cool will give it a go after my explorer dies --- biggest issue with the Explorer is the velcro pockets suck, the velcro has no power to stick the flap closed >_< hopefully better velcro on this one

    Duel Storm

Spelling may be as desired - implying the jacket is fit to combat (duel) any weather.

Aye - not bad if one reads it like that.

I had the hi viz explorer for a couple of years, did a trip to Vietnam and India but never tested the protection.

I found the waterproof liner fiddly to fit and best left out unless its actually raining as turns into sweat box.

Currently looking to replace but would need to know about 'membrane'... is it just seam welded plastic?

Crap. My crappy spelling. Suck. Will get the spelling changed in the next order to Dual but for the meantime I will keep the "E" there until they are sold out. (I only have a few of these jackets as it is a sample shipment). It was meant to be Dual as in 2 membranes. (I spell checked it originally and it came up all ok but I guess that is because of the 2 meanings.)

Both membranes are like the All Season one except one membrane is inbuilt while the other is removable. So stitched with seam welded over the top of the stitch.

lots of adjustability and neat features like the neck warmer make this look very attractive.
Would you consider offering the jacket with high viz panels? I like to wear hi-viz, especially on the commute but wearing it means I cannot access jacket pockets etc. Makes me wonder why more do not either do the Rev'It thing and offer a hi-viz vest that integrates or have jacket with hi-viz panels at least.
I am intrigued by the double waterproof liner. Is it supposed to be windproof too?
I am curous how vents are supposed to work with an inbuilt liner if the liner is designed to be windproof.
In the description you say the jacket has foam back armour. Is that different to a piece of foam padding that a lot of manufacturers put in the pocket rather than actual armour? You would be on a winner if its actual armour.

I will be looking at some form of high vis panels on the jacket in the future. Our High Vis All Season Explorer jacket is currently the only high vis jacket that we have and it took me a long time (about 6 different designs that did not look right) to get the right mix of high vis panels and black panels. Many of the designs high vis designs I done were too yellow and if it is too yellow, the jacket just won't sell well. So I need to good mix to make the jacket not look so overbearing.
The waterproof layers should be wind proof. Especially with both layers in there.
When the airvents are open, the air will flow into the and cool the inbuilt membrane down. This in turn will help to cool the rider down. Obviously it will not cool the rider down as much as vents that flow straight onto the rider but this jacket is designed more for the cold weather. Not hot weather.
The back armour is just a foam padding like most other jackets.

Thank you, comprehensive answers. Nice to see local efforts to address local needs.
On the back armour thing, is the pocket designed to take a particular shape or type of aftermarket armour? Am thinking Rev'It again with their CeeSoft range where you can buy the armour separately and the pockets are designed with it in mind

The pocket is not designed for any particular armour. Just a rectangle foam pad.

Good of you Nathan to announce the new product on here. My textile jacket is showing it's age and a tad ugly so this looks the business for winter. I have your Storm winter gloves and they are the best I've used so I'll take one of these.

The idea of having the misspelt Duel Storm does appeal to my humour but without sounding picky or cheeky, is there a risk the sample shipment wont be as, how do I say it, quality made as the regular production items to follow?
Early adopters often pay the price when any new product comes out and the manufacturer has to make some improvements for subsequent buyers.

Do you have a L in stock now? Will they connect to your Standard Motorcycle pants ($125). If so I'll get them to complete the set.

    Cheers

The quality is very much up there in this first shipment although as I said in the first post, I am open to idea on changes. So the jacket will most likely change over time but I cannot see it changing very much. It should also connect to the standard motorcycle pants. Cheers
