The headlight issue is probably just a burnt out filiment. Pull the bulb out and check to see if the little coils aren't burnt or broken
As you say (in my opinion too) ... two different issues.

Easiest check method is to change bulbs.

If you don't know where the idle screw is on your bike ... google it.

    SIMPLE things first.
I've got the owners manual and have found out how to alter idle so I'll have a look at the weekend. The previous owner said he tried replacing the bulb but the connection seemed like it didn't have enough 'contact' to stay on. When he pressed it in it worked but then left go and it wouldn't work.

Set the idle when it's warmed up. Much easier to do.

As I recall ... the bulb for those has three lugs and two contact points. Check you have the correct bulb and correctly seated. It will need to be pushed in to the receiver and rotated slightly. (Clockwise I think)

Don't touch the bulb with your bare hands.

Thanks for the reply! The ifle was at around 1.5k when it was warm, and when I rode it today in the cold it didn't stall once, which makes me wonder why it seems to stall only when it's dark?! Maybe mi bike is scared of the dark?? (Pussy!). I'll have a look tonight if it stalls, hopefully not.

I wonder if there are any service manuals online for the Scorpio?

I'm not able to download that as a PDF, it won't let me create an account, it's blocked. Do you have it as a PDF please?

So it happens when the bike isn't warmed up properly? On a cold night?
I still think you need to remove the entire wiring loom and all of the components and spread them out on the lounge floor.
All in the name of knowledge of course

Then you'll have a REAL problem...

Night time = headlight on. Does it still play up with the headlight off?

The problem is fanging around in the dark with the headlight off may cause more problems than just the stalling

My dipped lights don't work well at all so I always use full beam day and night. Rather be seen than not seen
