You paid the full amount for 12 months, so it seems you must have exceeded the "minimum on-hold period" prior to this registration.

Enjoy a year of happy motoring.

Would make perfect sense if you're not using it.

You're so fucking awesome and hard, it's so handsome of you to ride your bike rain, hail or shine. Definitely something a good looking, muscly man such as yourself should judge other people for.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it is from the date you put it on hold. If you time it right, then you can get a "free" period from when you relicence until it comes off hold. It's technically unlicenced, but that doesn't show on the label.

All this must be on the NZTA website somewhere.

Used to keep the one bike rego'd throughout the year and a company bike year round, now have 2 on 600+ rego and a company car. Will rotate them, with one on hold during winter, then switch for summer... just not riding enough to warrant $1k on rego a year

Haha. I really just meant I brave the cold during winter just to ride because it's so fun. I tend to stay away from the rain as much as possible. Sorry bud.

We're all getting blisters over this, Police don't do regular checking that i'm aware of.

I was told by a cop that his car had a camera that can read plates as he drove along or was parked.
the computer could detect no wof or no reg on vehicles, he said the problem was when driving most times there was too much traffic to pull up the vehicle. bikes have an advantage with having only one plate but still can still be caught if traveling in the right direction. no reg or on hold..... ride at your own risk!.....I have noticed when riding the guzzi which is on hold out here in the country have been able to get it so far.....

    Not correct.
I got caught with an expired label (six weeks). The cop said if it was less than a month he could give me a warning and a direction to get it licensed. The fine was $100 and 10 points.I immediately put the license on hold for no fee.
Also note that after the license has been on hold for 3 months, you can fill in an MR 27 form at an NZTA agency and license a vehicle for any period, even 1 day,by changing the license expiry date.
There is a processing fee plus the period of license,eg to license a large bike for 1 week it was $18.You can calculate the processing fee from that by subtracting the cost of 7 days license.

These days I license my bikes for 1 month per year as soon as the reminder is issued and get 1 month "free license" along with the 1 month real license ,due to the early arrival of the new label.

And you still only have one legit riding month a year...
Fuck that, I pay my assorted fees so I can ride when I want, where I want and enjoy the benifits of insurance while doing so 365 days a year.
