    Waterview Tunnel Opening

There's a rumour going round in the construction industry that Auckland's Waterview Tunnel will be opening this weekend.
It is expected to be Opening on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

If you are in the area and want to be one of the first through then I'd head there around 6am on Sunday morning because that is normally when the night time motorway closures have to end.

I could be off the mark here and I don't want to be responsible for disappointing anyone so do your own research if you are thinking of checking it out. (I'll be looking for any notifications of closures on the nor western and south western motorways around the area)

I have been invited to go on an organized walk through it, by 3 different people.

I thanked them kindly (or at least words to that effect)

Can't wait. I only ever visit Westside when I absolutely have to, so what use is the tunnel?

Lucky they kept it quiet guess the geniuses at NZTA have never heard of 'the media' (even front page on the printed Herald this morning).

Anyway isn't the whole idea of it that now you can get through Aucks going north or south without having to go into the CBD? All you Auckland bashers should be happy.

Oh and you're welcome for all that earthquake money you got from the rest of the country (including Auckland) guy in Christchurch.
Moe: Well, I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I...I can't compete with that stuff.
