NZ market place too small and widely diverse
Having complementary motorcycle brands would be nice under the one roof.
Ducati, BMW, HD
Having stock on the floor and well present with good staff/service people goes a long way.
NZders always looking for cheap does damage it.
Rural/local service, means you get one on one with the sales/service person - forms trust.
Obviously Honda has a plan. They have lots of dealers about the place. have a look at their dealer map.
we need more motorcyclists, so they buy more bikes and gear.....

I hope Blue Wing don't decide to go retail, they can barely function as a wholesaler.
There is a grey blur, and a green blur. I try to stay on the grey one. - Joey Dunlop
They are expensive right up until they are catastrophically discounted. Catastrophic for the poor bastard who bought one new when they first came out. Combine that with Blue Wing's unwillingness to bring in anything with modern safety aids or even a range of bikes that covers general market requirements and you get a lukewarm sales report.
Also, most of the Honda dealers are bastards and have to be because they are selling bikes that are comparatively expensive with no margin and little market desirability because Honda don't make class leading motorcycles anymore. You can't even point at a Honda and exclaim about how marvelous its superior finish is because the paint rubs off and the bolts go furry and rusty like Suzuki's used to in the early '90s.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I see little backlash. If they do it in Central Auckland it makes no difference to any other dealers. Botany Honda are hard to get to with a small showroom so they cant show much. A concept store would get the brand moving.
And common for a wholesaler to help people into shops, again they need floor space to display product.
Exactly.
Hondas biggest issue is a lack of interesting bikes lately.
Look at Yamahas approach to getting out of the global economic crisis that hit the industry some years back - lay low for a few years designing new and interesting bikes then launch them.
Honda and Suzuki ......
Kawasaki bolted on a supercharger at least.
The Europeans - they just released better and better models while the Japanese slept.
