    Cyclespot Yamaha, no longer Honda

    http://www.hondamotorbikes.co.nz/dealers/
    https://www.yamaha-motor.co.nz/dealers/all/motorcycle

Going to be interesting now with Motorcycle Central and Cyclespot just metres apart and no Honda dealers on Barrys Point Road anymore.

How does that affect Cycletreads down the road? Don't they have a lot of Yamahas?
There are two songs, "Stairway to Heaven" and "Highway to Hell" which I think give an indication of expected traffic flow

I doubt it will be that long before a Honda shop pops up somewhere central. And I doubt Motorcycle central will carry on with Yamaha.

A Yamaha shop in Auckland has never lasted as far as I know.

Maybe Botany Honda could go somewhere a bit easier to get to?

    Maybe you should move closer.

It's perfectly placed, and they're also closer to the airport for the rental side they host for a tour company.

They are not a single agency store though. I would say the days of multi agency shops are close to an end. It would not surprise me if the wholesalers start side stepping retailers and open there own stores.

In Auckland perhaps. Nationally the trend might be in the other direction. Melbourne is bigger than Auckland though and they have Peter Stevens Motorcycles which sells: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, KTM and MV. It's like Alladin's cave in there.

The New Plymouth Motorcycle Centre has Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, and KTM. There is a Honda dealer and a Yamaha dealer here but both of those have new owners and the Yamaha dealer seems to change hands fairly regularly.

In the provinces it's the farm sales that keep the dealers in business, if they aren't selling Japanese four wheelers they won't survive for long. I wouldn't be expecting to see a Ducati or Harley dealership open anytime soon, although we did have a Moto Morini agency - briefly.

Is it me or are there very few Honda dealers around? I'm not up in the national scene, but in Christchurch there only seems to be one but some people I know prefer to go to a more Rural oriented dealer in Rangiora I think. Are the Honda distributers hard to deal with, are Hondas not popular? What's the story?

    Cheers

i think the exact opposite, look at the shops that are going well and they are multi franchise, NZ is the only place with the stupid rule of single franchise dealers, and some of the distributors have sent some good people down the drain
by pushing single franchise onto them
