2013, but... they're not exactly scaling back operations.
NK is just the latest "reds under the bed" public scare to rally support for giving jews more money.

Akzle's for the snip!

Then what?
If every country was to leave every other country alone - would you be satisfied?
Would you be happy standing on the side lines watching Genocides, Barbaric Civil wars, flagrant Human rights violations by totalitarian despots?
Would you be happy if one of those despotic regimes then reasoned that "Fuck it - the US isn't going to do shit, lets go and settle some scores with our Neighbours"?
Would you be happy if they used NBC Weaponary in that conflict?
Have you ever considered that there are several countries that have attained a certain level of tech (the Lowest level of WMDs), that have long historic feuds/skirmishes with surrounding areas who are kept in line by the implicit threat that if they really start some shit, the US and everyone else will Bomb their asses back to the Stoneage?
You've often espoused the completely despicable (IMO) opinion that "At Least Saddamn kept things in order" - in that he kept the country in line, you then criticise the US for leaving Iraq in Chaos by removing Saddamn.
You've then often called the US a warmonger and a butcher - sounds kinda like the Iraq situation, but scaled up to the international scale - one big dog, keeping everyone else in line through fear and Tyranny. Yet you flip-flop as to which side you support. I'd posit that this is because you don't actually have any coherant rationale except that "what ever the US is doing is Bad".
The reality is, whilst it would be nice if everyone just got along (the radical left Utopia - where if we get rid of capitalism and the US, everyone can hold hands a sing kumbaya) - it doesn't work like that. It doesn't work like that at a community scale, it doesn't work like that on a regional scale, it doesn't work like that on a National scale - and guess what? It also doesn't work on the International scale.
Whichever perspective you choose - there are always going to be assholes, and you are always going to need someone who is big enough AND bad enough to deal with those assholes.

You got a problem if you believe the USA is being the kind neighbourhood cop......
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....
The Yanks haven't even batted an eyelid over the ethnic cleansing going on in Myanmar at present with the Rohingya civiliansThe Myanmar Military are having a field day imposing a scorched earth clean out
That's right they couldn't give a fuck because they've got nothing to gain![]()
It's almost like Deja Vu....
So, what should they do?
Charge in Guns blazing and put foot to ass? But isn't that what you are all complaining they do all the time?
This is the conundrum:
Do nothing - and a certain vocal sector of society goes: "Well why aren't you stopping this horror!"
Do something - and that SAME vocal sector of society goes "Warmongers! You are inflicting all this horror!"
So back to my previous post:
Then what?
At some point you have a principled choice:
1: It is acceptable to intervene with force against a country engaging in Tyranny (internal or external)
2: It is acceptable to stand by and watch Tyranny, with the ability to stop it and do nothing.
Which is it?
And for those that will quibble about what I mean by Tyranny:
Torture used as part of the judicial and extra-judicial processes
Genocide (either encouraged by, participated by or implicitly allowed by the state)
Imprisonment without due process
Execution without trial and for trivial offences
Revocation of basic rights (such as freedom of expression) under the threat of force
FWIW - Those that have a contrary view to mine - I suggest reading what happened in Rwanda in 1994 - That is what can (and does) happen...
