Aye, I see she's going to bung NZ radio on TVNZ, so they'll need Mike's bandwidth.

How does that work anyway? I mean what do we get to not look at while we're not listening to 2ZB?

LOL, casual homophobia, yep he's rural all right.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do a little bit of paying work, (y'know, just to pay for the odd luxury like a WOF or rego, or dog forbid a pint) without them taking 70% of your pension away?

The foreman of the gang laying it was the mad pom (see sidecar record attempt...)
Despite my best efforts at coercion and bribery, I couldn't get a buckshee connection done....
Same here, pretty much a dead spot too. I wasn't joking with the depends on which way the wind is blowing, South/Souwester/Norwester/Easterly...forget any cell coverage even TV coverage will drop to under 60% signal and start to lag piss poor for the location and actually being the highest point on the southern railway (133m above sea level).

I've got as per every household in the township a nice wee orange cable sticking out of the ground beside the power cable at the house foundation, the crew that put it all in said at the time they didn't know who or when it would be put into use but there was a shitload of politics happening behind the scenes
When I went from dial-up to VDSL B/B just a short time ago I asked most of the suppliers about the fibre and most suppliers just said it wasn't available in the area, there were sounds of bemusement on the phone when I said that it'd be plumbed to the township almost a year earlier
Rural B/B & farm satellite are a total rip-off for residential use plus it can be as sketchy as the cell coverage around here

Ha is that were Garrett ended up he doesn't like being told he fucked up with choice of roads for record attempts

That came as news. I was under the impression it was not means tested...clearly not that simple.

Probably worth getting divorced and getting two single ones.

We can help you work out whether it is to your financial advantage to include your partner or not.

If your spouse or partner is included in your payments, you can earn up to $100 (before tax) a week between you, before your New Zealand Superannuation is affected.
If you earn more than $100 (before tax) a week your payments are reduced by 70 cents for every dollar of income over $100 (before tax).

For more information on including a spouse or partner in your New Zealand Superannuation, please contact the New Zealand Superannuation contact centre.

Yeah, "helping you", that's what they're doing.

Oh it's not "means tested", 'cause it's not a "tax", exactly.

And it shouldn't have come as any surprise, when you earned your first dollar they took some of it, yes?

If you're like me you probably figured: "fair enough, but I want that new bike, I'll just do some overtime."

And what happened to your extra earnings?

So, fuckit, you can get a second job, right?

And then they started taxing you on what you spend.

OK, you can spend less... guess you don't have much choice eh?

And then they began to deny you access to the stuff your tax paid for, 'cause your family didn't NEED any special support.

If you're still working hard at this point you're a fucking slow learner.

Because if you've got your eye on the the finish line, now, where you finally get to put your feet up for a bit then guess what?

And if you think you've worked hard enough that you don't need their stinkin' pension, 'cause you've got your own sorted then what do you suppose happens next?

Aaaaand, if you think you'll just dial back the work a little bit, so the pension will stretch out a bit further.... you getting the message yet?

As far as I can tell the only reasonable response is to take your hard earned dollars to spend them where they're wanted, 'cause hard workers are certainly not fucking wanted around this neck of the woods.

    Malaysia's incentives seem good.

I like Asia, the craziness of it although Malaysia is more developed than Thailand or Vietnam.....they even have a rail link to the

main airport in KL, something National say is years away here.

I'd be happy touring around on my early 90s BMW GS or Scootering around SEA in my retirement. Bit hot in the Summer....

I average less than $100pw - it's occupational therapy mainly. Don't have the stamina now for much more.

He was with Underground Brown for a while - last seen managing one of the long term parking setups at the airport.
There's a lot about that attempt that was done wrong IMO.

    oooh what a come down

From what I saw of the whole lot wasn't the flashest, it was all secret squirrel here when he approached the so-called community group about doing the run. Unfortunately for him the local cockies knew naff all about that sort of thing and allowed him to go ahead and use probably the roughest road in the area I rang him a week prior and told him the road was like a corrugated roof at speed and in response he reckoned the council were doing some repairs for the attempt probably cost quite few km/h in speed.
If they'd gone one block over the road is billiard table smooth and not running up/down hill and funnily enough where the car club do their speed runs and where certain other machines get to stretch their legs
