Splitting at Motorway on-ramp lights - yes or no??

I'm fresh back into the country after 8 years away. They didn't have the stupid motorway on-ramp lights when I left. What's the go with these, do you split up to the front like a normal set of lights, or do you wait in the queue with all the peanuts in their cars? Obviously if you did split you'd need to watch out for the ragers opening their doors or moving over on you, but what seems to be the "standard" at these lights?

I cant see a problem with splitting up to the front of the queue given that we are allowed to use the T2 lane anyway when there is one. However once I get to the front I am unsure whether I should wait for the next green light and potentially steal someone elses place in the queue or do I just go through the red and therefore not affect anyone else, but instead run a red light.

There was an official letter posted on here some time back, stating that this is perfectly OK to do. "Traffic control lights do not apply to motorcycles" essentially.

I filter nice and steadily (Slow in second gear) up to the front. I do wait for the lights though I make sure I get away sharpish to avoid having to argue with the cars for road space thereafter. Any quicker and you'd be taking the proverbial and you're still gaining heaps over the cagers.

I've never had any cagers move over on me and going slowly often allows them time to move out of the way (Some do) before you get to them.

What's on-ramp lights? Oh, you mean drag racing interval lights?

it depends on which ones I am at, there are a couple with lanes that are pretty narrow. Wouldn't bother moving up there unless the cars made room. Other ones I would hop over into the T2 etc. lanes. If I do split up to the front then I wait for the lights but twist that wrist hard to get out of people's ways when they will be trying to merge.

Only place where I have noticed it is Kybher Pass on ramp behind St. Peters. But then that might just be me worrying about being bigger than I actually am. Sometimes it is fine but at other times the cars can be quite packed in.
