    Rear shocks GN250

I've changed my seat on an old GN250. It has meant that the gap between the tyre and guard has reduced a little. Is it possible to lengthen the existing shocks or do I need to buy longer replacements? Cheers

I doubt the original shocks were ever intended to be rebuilt ... so no.

Change it. Pop one off and measure it eyelet to eyelet. Pay attention to the type of eyelet as you want something the same on the new shock. Also measure the hole diameter as you'll need to match this.

Then start searching TM and wreckers for something longer eyelet to eyelet.

I do have to ask though - you state you have changed the seat and now the tyre/guard gap is reduced - does not make sense.

"an old"... "reduced a little".. such adjectives. such specificity.

Probably the bolts holding the new seat in place .. were put thru the mudguards. I suspect the rear suspension on the GN could be a little tired as well.

Stiffer (or new) shocks of the same length would sort the issue ...
