    Hello Everyone

    Hi,

Am new here, planning to get a motorcycle to ride to work as a daily, so logging in here to browse, learn and may even ride with you guys.

Been eyeing on the Duke 390 2017 model for sometime now but my partner isnt too happy about it as i got too many toys at home. She approves of a scooter...for now.

Used to ride a ninja 7 when i was in my twenties... now with a belly... i think a Duke works. LOL

So what should i do? Submit and regret.... or buy first, regret later? LOL

Sounds like it's time to upgrade the missus to a more reasonable model. Trying to control your partner in a relationship is generally a sign of insecurity and deep seated trust issues, which will likely not be resolved until they come to breaking point, by which time you're probably burning bridges. Far better to leave as friends with a difference of opinion, than turn into cuntfuck exes.

Do her in the ass at least once before breaking up though.

sorry. it is 2017, and i made a few assumptions there.

if you're a homo, then in lieu of "doing him/her/it/not specified/undecided in the ass" which i assume is status quo, you're going to have to... i don't even know.
    use his toothbrush or something.

then you should be looking more to the hondas and harleys. duke's a man's machine. iykwim.

Welcome to the funny farm chap. No point asking us for advice on your situation, but we can share how we've dealt with it in the past I suppose?!

My wife had some misgivings when I started looking at bikes, after a short period without one. With remarkable restraint I explained the difference between a wife and a prison officer. Picked the bike up the following week. Still married

"wife and a prison-officer" that is a good description. LOL

When my wife of quite a few years objected against me returning to riding bikes....she didn't approve either.

    So I told her hat I wasn't asking , just telling !
She then was dumb enough to give me an ultimatum : her or the bike...

Suffice to say that I still ride bikes now...
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

"scoot" - slang term for motorcycle I think? A bit confusing given how much it sounds like 'scooter'

If she thinks scooters are safer then here's some points to raise...

Smaller wheels, higher vulnerability to potholes, debris etc
Even less visibility to drivers than a motorcycle
Fuck all power to get out of trouble in a hurry
Worse suspension, handling, brakes... these things count in a hurry if you're having to do an evasion
Generally a lot less respect from other road users
And something about them says it's OK to ride in an open face helmet and street clothes. Nope.

I have had a girlfriend give me the "it's the bike or me" ultimatum... still riding!! She'd have driven me bloody mad in the long run anyway.
