It's part our Morbid curiosity, part there is nothing remarkable about being killed, but there is something 'remarkable' with mass killing, the 'why' is strangely fascinating to us.

To be fair the media are there to report the news and the people are dead so end of story in regards to them except for the human interest stories. The gunman and his motives on the other hand is ongoing relevant news and will be for quite some time.

yeah. but he wouldn't be shooting back, because he wasn't sniping shit, and wouldn't have known to look for CS.

even if CS became routine, and people DID know to look for, they'd never know how many teams there were, and once they'd taken a shot at the first, their time would become quickly limited.
