Not sure how you define (legal), however (legal) or otherwise the total number of guns is going to be a significant factor in the number of gun deaths, that's without considering ease of purchase and ability to carry.....

The obvious supposition is that they like guns and they like shooting each other with them, if they weren't so easily available it would probably make it more difficult to shoot each other. The downside of more restrictive gun laws is that it affects law abiding people, and the nutjobs will probably still find a way around them anyway...

Dylan Roof stated that he wanted to start a race war which seems political to me. So it'd be appropriate to call him a terrorist except that he seems to lack the required level of melanin for that to happen.

and i'm not sure how they define "guns per 100 inhabitants". at any rate my stats would be older than those, and were likely leaning toward sporting rifles.
i note with some curiosity that the majority are suicides (and new zealand's rate seems low)

and therein, as the bard will tell you, lies the rub. the legislature only affects the good citizen. criminals remain unaffected. and as said, this guy was white, with (as yet) no indicators of a predilection to mass homicide.
personally, me and my homies and our stockpiles of illegal firearms have never shot anyone we didn't intend to, so it isn't even a matter of availability. but intent

and you can't ban shit "just in case".

and the bigger killers (obesity, heart and lung disease, cars, etc, remain at large)

It either never happened, it was CIA or caused by the Jews. I will wait and see which one!

Before their excursions into sandland, in "nam"....up to 100.000 A merican troops sprayed and prayed at random . Killing more A mericans by gunfire at home then in S E Asia over that period......

But gun control does not need to be addressed....
Mind you looking at Trump , birth control is more desperately needed....

Be kinda unlikely we're gonna get the true story on this latest mass shooting from the media, at least in the short term

What surprised me was the report (if it's true to start with) that he'd wheeled 23 suitcases into his room over a period of days.

Does gun control eliminate these types of events? Not altogether, but it should make it harder for one civilian to accumulate a stash like this chap had, surely?

I wouldn't use the label terrorist, this chap had gone postal in a well thought out manner.

Surprised ' they' did not get to the scene and plant a North Korean body there, that would have set the wheels in motion.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.

Someone will find a piece of soundtrack which sounds like two guns firing at the same time.....then katman will be away and running......

You'd have thought though that bringing that many suitcases into his suite should have triggered at least some curiosity in the security staff.

As details emerge about the Las Vegas gunman who killed at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others, an online debate has begun about why Stephen Paddock has not been labelled a terrorist.

Instead the 64-year-old who opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel towards an open-air music festival on Sunday evening has been described by news outlets as a "lone wolf", a "granddad", a "gambler", and a "former accountant", but not a terrorist.

Hush, we don't need the number of hours lost to retarded security procedures at airports rolled out at hotels.

Reckon you could fly a couple of 747's a day into random office blocks and not lose the quantity of life lost to "security" at airports around the world.

... why? if you pay shitloads™ for an hotel room, you kinda expect some kind of privacy from the staff. and if you want to take your collection of chainsawed up hookers with you, whose business is it, really?
