Question: Blind Spots and Heavy / Large Vehicles

Okay, I know that a few of you drive heavy vehicles for a living - petrol tankers, cement trucks and so on. So this question is for you, in light of the repeated comment that your vehicles have blind spots.

If you are parked at the side of the road in your heavy vehicle - such as a bus would be at a bus stop - and I am approaching your vehicle from the rear and I can see your mirror[s] on the right hand side, would you see me provided you did more than a quick glance in your mirror?

If you don''t reply to IT, it will die on the vine.
Having said that, IT will not be allowed to continue spouting dangerous and seriously bad opinion or fake facts for much longer, if we could all just literally not reply, even if it means biting everything off and sitting on your hands.

If there is to be a crash it will be the result of the actions of everybody involved. You can't control anyone else's actions, you can only control your own, but you can allow for the actions of others. Most times that won't involve speeding up.

Only somewhat relevant, but I was riding my AJS to work one day in bumper to bumper traffic. The face of a guy standing at a bus stop lit up in recognition at a driver of one of the cars. I hit the brakes and pulled in to the curb. If nothing had happened I might have looked a bit silly, but the driver who recognised the guy in the bus stop jammed his brakes on and there was a multiple car pile up beside where I was sitting. But for my reaction I would have been in the middle of that.

I could have ignored the "at fault" parties, but the fact that I didn't may have contributed to the fact that I didn't spend the last 57 years in a wheel chair.

If following a motorbike in my car I always allow a longer following distance because some can go down "out of the blue" and that actually happened when I was following one. I did not need to emergency brake because of the extra following distance I had allowed.

That made me LOL, she would have to back herself up then. Not going to happen. Same with the going for testing, sadly she is all that is wrong with riders currently.

But it is encouraging how many are taking the training and getting benefit from it. I have not heard anybody say they have not got a thing from the Ride Forever program.

im trying to get to the Auckland event if I can and will say hello.
